ABOUT THE CHARGERS
Welcome to the home of the Syracuse Chargers RFC. We are a highly competitive Rugby Club competing in the EMPIRE Rugby Football Union. Our club consists of two teams our D2 Side and our D4 Side. Each have a full slate of matches with opportunity each week. We are also a part of the CNY Rugby Organization. This diverse Rugby community includes a K-6 Youth Flag program, High School Boy’s (Silver Backs) and High School Girl’s (Silver Hawks) teams as well as the Uticuse Rugby Club and our Alumni Team the Syracuse Old Boys.
Current Syracuse Chargers include former College Football and Soccer players, Wrestlers, former Semi-Pro Football players, College Lacrosse players and a High School Sprint Conference Record Holder. Our occupations include Teachers, Engineers, Lawyers, Graduate Students, Bartenders, Tradesmen, Salesmen and Entrepreneurs. We are always seeking new players, and no previous experience is required!

The 2011 season also brought the club it’s first ever appearance in the National Championship Finals in Glendale, CO where we finished ranked #2 in USA Rugby DIII. In 2012, the team returned to the Elite 8 and finished in DIII ranked #5 in the country.
We’re not just about the matches. Social events, and brotherhood/sisterhood, fill the offseason. Summer 7’s, Club and Fundraising Parties, Golf Outings, Empire State Brewing & Music Festival, Winterfest and much more occur through the year.
We are always seeking new players to be a part of our family. Athletes of any stripe are encouraged to participate. Successful rugby players may be large or small; attributes of size, speed, quickness, intelligence and strength are always desired.
